The Efficiency between Markowitz Model and Single Index Model

چکیده

It is important to investigate the different impact factors on establishment of investment portfolio. In order maximize profit a portfolio, this research selects six stocks: Adobe (ADBE), International Business Machines Corp (IBM), Bank America Corporation (BAC), Citigroup (C), Southwest Airlines Co (LUV) and Alaska Air Group Inc. (ALK) as an empirical case conduct decision. This compares results two models (Markowitz model Index Model) by analyzing data portfolio such minimum risk maximum Sharpe Ratio finds that Markowitz Model more appropriate establishment, which presented its sharper efficient frontier. Under all conditions study considered, always gets returns than when increases same amount. Therefore, concludes suitable for By in models, has found better thus make rational investments.

Applying Grey Forecasting Model on the Investment Performance of Markowitz Efficiency Frontier: A Case of the MSCI World Index

This paper uses a grey forecasting model GM(1,1) on improving the investment performance of classical Markowitz efficiency frontier’s investment portfolio using the component markets’ indexes of MSCI World Index from 1999 to 2005 as the samples. Using grey Markowitz efficiency frontier’s investment portfolio models, we establish a more stable and correct connection between ex-ante model and ex-...

Sparse single-index model

Let (X, Y ) be a random pair taking values in Rp × R. In the socalled single-index model, one has Y = f?(θ?TX) + W , where f? is an unknown univariate measurable function, θ? is an unknown vector in Rd, and W denotes a random noise satisfying E[W |X] = 0. The single-index model is known to offer a flexible way to model a variety of high-dimensional real-world phenomena. However, despite its rel...

Single-index model selections

We derive a new model selection criterion for single-index models, AICC , by minimizing the expected Kullback-Leibler distance between the true and candidate models. The proposed criterion selects not only relevant variables but also the smoothing parameter for an unknown link function. Thus, it is a general selection criterion that provides a uniÞed approach to model selection across both para...

Markowitz Model for Robust Edge Detection

For many image processing applications, the aim is to detect a certain event or occurrence in a noisy data set. Several algorithms may exist that solve the detection problem. An example is the detection of edges. The subsequent difficulty then is how to select a proper weighting scheme for the algorithms so that the results are combined optimally. To achieve proper fusion of detection outputs, ...

Varying-coefficient single-index model

In this paper, the varying-coefficient single-indexmodel (VCSIM) is proposed. It can be seen as a generalization of the semivaryingcoefficient model by changing its constant coefficient part to a nonparametric component, or a generalization of the partially linear single-indexmodel by replacing the constant coefficients of its linear part with varying coefficients. Based on the local linear met...
